studied economics, business studies, economic policy and public finance at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. After completing his degree in economics, he joined the academic staff at the University of Frankfurt’s Public Finance Department and also started working at the Wiesbaden town hall’s finance department.

From 1980 to 1984, Mr. Vogt directed Wiesbaden’s tax office and the department for gaming. After five years holding the reins at the city’s finance department (1984–1989), the father of two grown-up children switched to the position of city treasurer of Düsseldorf in 1989 where he was responsible for general fiscal administration, financing as well as planning and control for subsidiaries and associates.

As of January 2000, he has been in charge of finance as well as the planning and control for subsidiaries and associates as financial director at Messe Düsseldorf. In 2000, he also became a member of the Management Board of Messe Düsseldorf’s Czech subsidiary, Veletrhy Brno a.s., which he has headed since 2005.
