Delight at the Paralympics in Vancouver: Werner M. Dornscheidt congratulates Gold Medal Winner at the German House

Date: 17.03.2010

Yesterday, Werner M. Dornscheidt, CEO & President of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, was delighted to congratulate Martin Braxentaler on his Gold Medal at the “Deutsches Haus” in Vancouver. This is the eighth Paralympic Gold Medal Braxenthaler has won for Germany and the second Gold Medal for the German team at the 10th Winter Paralympics in Vancouver.

“I am proud that together we can demonstrate the increased social standing of disability sports and its athletes at this institution – making the German House a meeting point for sportspeople, business partners and media repre-sentatives,” said Dornscheidt adding that this path towards strengthening disabled sports must be continued. “The athletes’ performance was fantastic,” rejoiced Messe Düsseldorf boss because strengthening disabled sports has a very positive influence on Düsseldorf’s position as a city of sports.

The Düsseldorf trade fair company is organising and operating the “Deutsches Haus” during the Winter Paralympics from 12 to 21 March 2010 in Vancouver. Here the DBS, the German Association of Disabled Sports, has for the first time received guests and business partners who are increas-ingly committed to disabled sports. Over the ten days of the Paralympics approx. 1,700 participating athletes and official representatives from over forty countries are expected.
