In their meetings on 19 January 2001, Messe Duesseldorf's supervisory board and shareholders elected managing director Wilhelm Giese as new president and CEO beginning 1.1.2002. Messe Duesseldorf is thus securing the trade fair expertise of this experienced professional and ensuring continuity in corporate management for the future as well. Joachim Erwin, lord mayor of Duesseldorf and chairman of the supervisory board, states: "I am convinced that we have made the right choice in putting an experienced trade fair professional at the helm, avoiding the need for Messe Duesseldorf to experiment with an outsider".
Equally gratifying is the fact that the newly-elected president and CEO has the total support of staff members on the supervisory board and the board of management. This trusted 'captain' will ensure smooth sailing for the company in the years to come.
