Creative, lively and full of colour – that’s the world of a make-up artist. It’s a matter of continually developing new ideas and realising them with perfect craftsmanship. Until now there has not been a trade fair in Germany to support professional make-up artists – a situation which is set to change: On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 March 2010 make-up artists can look forward to the première of the make-up artist design show in Düsseldorf. The trade fair will offer innovative products, professional know-how and creative inspiration for the full range of make-up artists.
Stars of the industry – live
The main focus of the make-up artist design show will be on information, exchange and professional development. Several renowned international make-up artists will be presenting their works at the Talk Forum and sharing valuable advice and professional expertise – artists from the worlds of movies, the stage and TV.
Vittorio Sodano from Italy will be showing his film productions. “Casanova” with Sienna Miller and “The Black Dahlia” with Hilary Swank are just two examples of successful films in which he was responsible for make-up and special effects. His work in “Apocalypto”, directed by Mel Gibson, gained him an Oscar nomination. Fair visitors can also look forward to the world of Barney Nikolic from London who will be showing his special effects in Harry Potter films at the Talk Forum. Hasso von Hugo not only works on an international scale but also runs a school for make-up artists in Berlin and will be explaining the practical training provided at his college. Hasso von Hugo is well-known for his work in films such as “Luther”, “Resident Evil” and the “Pope Joan”. He received the German Film Award and the BAFTA Award for his artwork in “The Name of the Rose”. Jos Brands, Leader of the KRYOLAN International Make-up Team, will be giving an introduction to make-up work for the new high definition imaging technology. Further talks will be presented on new methods in digital impression taking and mould making. One special highlight will be a surprise guest from the United States who will be sharing about his work at the Hollywood Studios.
First hand and hands-on
The Creativity Workshop at the make-up artist design show is set to offer some first hand, hands-on experience of different working materials and techniques – a great opportunity to sample the innovative technique of digital impression taking for the first time. Moreover, visitors can take a good look at airbrush art, testing tools, techniques and different make-ups. Others may wish to try their hands at working with silicon, blood types and other materials for the creation of special effects.
This exciting programme will be supplemented by the stands of well-known companies that offer everything one might require for professional make-up, hair styles, special effects, the modelling of faces and bodies and the creation of masks and hairpieces.
Three trade fairs at one weekend
Further make-up and hair expertise is offered to visitors by two leading trade fairs in the beauty industry which will be running in parallel with the make-up artist design show in Düsseldorf: BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL, the leading trade fair for cosmetics professionals, and TOP HAIR INTERNATIONAL Trend & Fashion Days, the leading event for the world of hairdressers.
The make-up artist design show will be taking place in Hall 7.1 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre on 27 and 28 March 2010, from 9am to 6pm. A visitors’ registration procedure will be in place, to ensure that only professional make-up artists will be admitted to the trade fair. A one-day ticket is EUR 30 and a two-day ticket EUR 45. Entrance tickets also cover a visit to BEAUTY and entitle the holder to use trams, buses and trains of the two local transport companies (VRS and VRR) on the relevant days of validity (standard class on trains). Cloakroom and luggage storage facilities are free for all visitors. Further details on the make-up artist design show are available online at www.make-up-artist-show.de or www.beauty.de.
