Presided by its Chairman, Lord Mayor Dirk Elbers, the supervisory board at Messe Düsseldorf GmbH in today’s meeting laid the foundations for the generation change in company management on the horizon in the next two years.
Hans Werner Reinhard (39) was unanimously appointed Deputy Member of the Board of Management. He follows Wilhelm Niedergöker, Managing Director of the company since 2002 whose contract ends on 31 May 2010.
"Today’s appointment of Mr Reinhard marks an important step in our management rejuvenation process. Only with continuity and long-term outlook from the management team can Messe Düsseldorf continue to hold its own at the top of the global trade fair business," explains a delighted Lord Mayor Dirk Elbers, Supervisory Board Chairman at the trade fair company. "We have achieved what other trade fair companies have failed to do in recent times. We are in a position to fill management posts internally from our own staff. Mr Reinhard is young, knows the company and has proven his talent in the trade fair business as an authorised signatory over the past few years. This early personnel decision makes it possible to hand over business in the proper manner and provides continuity within the company. We thank Mr Niedergöker for his achievements. We shall give him a suitable send off in May 2010," Elbers continued.
Hans Werner Reinhard studied international business administration at the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel spending terms abroad in Buenos Aires (RA) and Berkeley (USA). Already at that early stage he wrote his dissertations on trade fair-related topics. After completing his studies he began his professional career in 1997 at Messe Düsseldorf International in the project team responsible for running the German Pavilion at EXPO 2000 in Hanover. In October 1999 he moved with Werner M. Dornscheidt, CEO at Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, to Leipziger Messe and worked there in various positions on the departmental and project management level. Since January 2004 Reinhard has been authorised signatory at the Düsseldorf trade fair company and is currently in charge of the department Domestic Trade Fairs 2.
