Messe Düsseldorf continuing to count on the Russian trade fair market +++ Thomas Rudolf Stenzel new Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Moscow

25.02.2010
Thomas Stenzel (45)

With immediate effect Thomas Rudolf Stenzel is taking over as Man-aging Director at the Messe Düsseldorf GmbH subsidiary in Moscow. He is thus succeeding Norbert Schmidt, who left the company at the beginning of the year to become Managing Director of the Czech subsidiary Veletrhy Brno (BVV).

“With the appointment of Thomas Stenzel we are sending out a clear signal of our trust in the Russian trade fair market”, explains Werner M. Dornscheidt, President and CEO Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. “As a result, we will further strengthen our position as the leading foreign trade fair organizer on the Russian market and increase the attractiveness of the most important market in Eastern Europe for German and international exhibitors.”

Last year Russia was drastically affected by the international eco-nomic crisis, but now there are clear signs of recovery, he added. “We were also a reliable partner in the Russian market during the crisis. For our customers, the team of experts in Moscow guarantees they will be able to exploit the upturn.”

Following his commercial training Thomas Stenzel began his professional career in 1986 in the foreign section of today’s Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. In this capacity he gained comprehensive experience, especially in the area of Eastern European trade fair business. As a self-employed entrepreneur he represented the Poznan international trade fair company in Germany and was also responsible for representing Messe München International in Berlin for the Eastern European countries. At the Leipzig trade fair company, he then took charge of foreign marketing and coordination of the foreign representative network.

Werner Dornscheidt: “In Thomas Stenzel we are acquiring the ser-vices of a qualified and experienced market connoisseur, especially when it comes to the Russian economic region. Particularly now, at a time when the Russian economy is beginning to pick up once again, we want to have a powerful, hard-hitting team in place here.”

Stenzel will begin his activities with the trade fairs SHK MOSCOW International Industrial and Technology Trade Fair, Heating Technology, Air-conditioning, Ventilation, Refrigeration Technology, Building Technology, Sanitation Technology, Renewable Energies (20 - 22 April) and  METALLURGY-LITMASH, TUBE RUSSIA, ALUMINIUM / NON-FERROUS - International Trade Fair for Metallurgy, Machinery, Plant Technology & Products, The International Tube and Pipe Trade Fair in Russia, International Trade Fair for Aluminium and Non-Ferrous Metals, Materials, Technologies and Products (24 - 27 May) along with METALLOOBRABOTKA, 11th International Specialized Exhibition for Equipment, Instruments and Tools for the Metalworking Industry (24 - 28 May). “Although the industry, particularly in these sectors, has suffered greatly from the crisis, experts are expecting good growth prospects in the long term”, said Dornscheidt. “In the country the backlog demand in the industry but also in private consumption is just as high as before and many companies are hoping for a lead through ultra-modern Western equipment.”
