From 10 to 12 September 2010, GDS – International Event for Shoes & Accessories shows all pertinent trends and looks for the 2011 Spring/Summer ordering season. Roughly 780 exhibitors (1,800 collections) from 34 countries will present their comprehensive selections of progressive and classic premium brands, trendy quality brands, colourful street and sportswear, as well as the latest kids fashion, during the three days of the trade fair.
The fashion and trend fair is showing a slight increase of around two percent on exhibitors compared with the previous year's event and around three percent compared with the event in March of this year. With that, GDS underscores its position as the leading shoe trade fair for the Central and North European Market. Visitors, however, no longer come just because of the broad selection of fashion offered in the exhibition halls: Over the past several seasons GDS has increasingly established itself as a groundbreaking information, trend and networking platform for the shoe industry.
"Once again the Düsseldorf shoe fairs are strongly positioned in this season. The overall concept is thoroughly understood, adopted and supported by the industry," explains Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, President and CEO of the organising company, Messe Düsseldorf, during the opening press conference. "With its unique combination of product variety, information and lifestyle orientation, GDS is held in high esteem in the industry. The two percent increase in exhibitors in season comparison is distributed throughout all areas. And the registration numbers are stable, even from the major South European manufacturing countries in spite of the still difficult market situation in the region. Exhibitors from the Netherlands are returning in high numbers. The manufacturers know very well that GDS is the central B2B platform for the Central and North European market."
Even More Information: The "Speakers Corner"
All industry lectures and seminars at GDS (with the exception of the Shop Assistants' Day) take place in the "Speakers Corner" lecture area in hall 7.0. An inspiring and competently assembled event programme with roughly 20 lectures by international speakers awaits visitors during the three days of the trade fair. Visitors receive extensive trend information for the 2011 Spring/Summer season, may deepen their knowledge of the various styles or participate in a lecture on fair trade developments in the shoe industry. Further seminars offer tips and inspiration on the presentation of wares. A panel discussion on the topic of wellness, and the Designers Networking Drink with Footwear Talk Show, round out the diverse event programme at the Speakers Corner (see separate press release for further information).
The upcoming GDS – International Event for Shoes & Accessories and GLOBAL SHOES – leading trade show for sourcing take place from 10 to 12 September 2010 at the Düsseldorf fairgrounds. A total of 1,190 exhibitors from 41 countries (effective 23.08.2010) present the latest shoe and bag styles. At GDS approximately 1,800 collections for the 2011 Spring/Summer season will be shown, along with trends for the current season.
