The positive development of Messe Düsseldorf made it necessary to expand once again. With the construction of the new trade fair hall 8b, Messe Düsseldorf fulfilled the requirement of more hall surface area and has thus increased its hall surface area to 252,000 m² (gross).

Hall 8b is now finished - after only 20 months of construction time. Messe Düsseldorf has not only invested in increased capacities with its new hall 8b and its sister hall 8a (completed in 2004), however, it has also especially invested in the quality of the surroundings for the different events. Thus a separate exhibition site was created on the north side of the trade fair grounds. Halls 8a and 8b, each with 12,850 m², offer the perfect prerequisite for trade fairs, events and congresses. Of additional benefit are the three seminar areas between 76 and 200 m²; each one of them equipped with a café-bar and a lobby. Modern architecture, latest technical infrastructure and flexible light design offer the ideal prerequisite for the staging of events of every description.

The trade fair organizers Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH were able to convince themselves of this plus factor during the viscom 2007 (International Trade Fair for Visual Communication). As the first guest event, the viscom 2007 occupied hall 8a and the new hall 8b and by using hall 8b it also became the forerunner for the leading trade fairs: „drupa“, „K“, „interpack“ and „medica“. Not only did the new hall 8b convince the exhibitors and visitors at first go, but also the organizers. Due to the location, the comfort and the service quality of the independent trade fair grounds, a smooth and uncomplicated assembly and disassembly of the events can be warranted, as well as a calm and harmonious runtime of trade fairs, events and congresses.

Based on longstanding and successful experience in the trade fair industry, all eventualities and customer wishes were taken into consideration concerning the conceptual design of the new halls. The 16 large gates have been designed in such a way that also heavy goods transporters are able to drive directly into the halls and unload.  With a floor loading of 10 t/m² the hall floors are extremely resilient. A further advantage of hall complex 8a and 8b is that there is a direct connection to the LTU arena and to the „Tulip Inn Düsseldorf Arena“hotel. With a modern entrance area, the direct access to the city railway station and short ways to the trade fair car parks, the hall complex is the ideal location for every type of event.
