Goodbye to wastepaper baskets, and hello to the paperless office! Our waste disposal system can be summed up in three very simple words: avoid, reduce, recycle. To reduce our own waste, we largely use digitised routines, with the full-scale implementation of the “paperless office”. Also, we’ve been raising awareness among our workforce through courses on waste avoidance and the responsible use of resources.

To keep the waste from exhibitors and stand construction companies as low as possible, we’ve implemented a range of measures to help our customers in the avoidance of waste:

• We provide exhibitors with an information system that supports them in making sure their stands are as environment-friendly as possible and in avoiding waste.
• Ranging from 40-litre waste bags to 40-cubic-metre containers, our infrastructure warrants the best possible recycling and disposal of unavoidable waste.
• Waste created by stand users is picked up by mobile collection machines, and the resulting waste is disposed of later.
• Waste is separated before, during and after each event, with waste disposal being financed under the “polluter pays” principle.
• Waste producers are charged depending on the type of waste, with unseparated waste incurring a higher fee than separated waste.
• Production waste generated during the trade fairs K, drupa and interpack is collected in 40 m³ containers and removed from collection centres on the premises. Exhibitors must register their production waste and can either transport it themselves or commission a contract forwarder to pick it up. Clean-grade disposal is a lot cheaper than mixed waste disposal.
• Needless to say, we also organise the proper disposal of all special waste, such as printing inks (drupa) or emulsions for cooling cutting and grinding tools (Metav, glasstec).
