Major Construction Project at Messe Düsseldorf picks up Pace
Since February 2026, construction has been underway on Messe Düsseldorf's new administrative headquarters. A new video offers a first-hand look at how the project is progressing and what comes next.
Anyone passing Gate 2 of the fairgrounds these days can see that something significant is happening. Trailers, heavy machinery, and a busy construction site mark the beginning of one of the most consequential projects in the company's recent history. By 2028, Messe Düsseldorf will have invested around €100 million in building its new administrative headquarters. The project is part of a broader master plan to systematically modernize the Düsseldorf exhibition venue through 2040.
Work has been progressing on schedule since February. The first step involves demolishing the front of the two existing office towers to make way for the new building section. At the same time, the core renovation of the rear tower has begun—including hazardous materials remediation and interior stripping, measures that are largely invisible from the outside but critical to the project's further progress. In March, the two building sections were structurally separated. At the end of April, a long-reach excavator was delivered by heavy transport and assembled on site. It is expected to be used to gradually demolish the front glass tower by July.
An Exclusive Look Behind the Scenes
