The assignment covers the complete realization of a German Pavilion at the World Expo – from strategic planning and EU-wide tendering across areas including communications, food and beverage, retail, staffing, accommodation, and visitor services, through to staging the official German National Day.
Experience with major international formats
"We are delighted by the trust the Federal Ministry has placed in us with this assignment, and we are approaching the task ahead with great care," says Marius Berlemann, COO of Messe Düsseldorf. "Expo 2027 in Belgrade is a special international project for us, one in which we can draw on our experience in organizing and delivering complex event formats."
Messe Düsseldorf can draw on many years of experience in delivering major international formats. Among other projects, the company was involved in implementing the German and Düsseldorf pavilions at the World Expos in Brussels, Seville, Hanover and Shanghai, as well as in co-organizing the German Houses at the Olympic Games since 2000 and at the Paralympic Games since 2010.
Guiding theme: Innovation through play
"We are pleased to have Messe Düsseldorf at our side as a competent and experienced partner, capable of meeting the demands of this project at the highest level," says Dr. David Wolfmeyer, who is responsible for trade fair policy and Expo participations at the BMWE. "With this team, we are confident that we will represent Germany at Expo 2027 in a fitting and impressive way."
Expo 2027 will be held under the guiding theme "Play for humanity." How this theme will be translated into the German Pavilion is part of the concept being developed by Cologne-based design agency facts and fiction.
