The Countdown to EuroSkills 2027 in Düsseldorf is on

Düsseldorf, October 01, 2026. In a year, Messe Düsseldorf will host EuroSkills 2027. From September 22 to 26, around 800 young skilled professionals aged 18 to 25 from more than 30 countries will compete in some 50 skill competitions. These include fields such as robotics, landscape gardening and hairdressing. Up to 150,000 visitors are expected.

Following the opening ceremony on September 22, participants will compete for three days, from September 23 to 25, at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center. Admission is free. On September 26, the winners will be honored for their achievements at a major closing ceremony. Luxembourg is the co-host country.

“We bring young talent together with companies from across Europe – at a time when companies are urgently searching for skilled workers,” says Wolfram Diener, President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf. “We also want to give participants the best possible stage. They should feel like elite athletes for five days and be celebrated by a large audience.”

Düsseldorf Welcomes Europe
After WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai, the event in Düsseldorf is now drawing ever closer. “EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027 will be even bigger than the previous European Championship in Herning,” says Dawid Solak, CEO of EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027 GmbH. “For five days, we will turn Düsseldorf into a European meeting place for young skilled professionals, businesses, education and policymakers. With this competition, we are sending a strong signal for the next generation and Europe’s innovative strength.”

At the end of September, a Messe Düsseldorf project team returned from WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai, where it gathered inspiration. “A year from now, Messe Düsseldorf will take on the role of host. Having experienced an event like this from a visitor’s perspective beforehand is extremely valuable,” says Kirstin Deutelmoser, Director Commercial Development at Messe Düsseldorf. “We learned a great deal in Shanghai. We now have an even clearer understanding of what matters. Our roadmap for EuroSkills 2027 in Düsseldorf is set.”

50 competitions, one big stage
The project team is currently planning which skills will take place in which halls and how visitors can be guided efficiently through the venue. In doing so, the team coordinates closely with the internal specialist departments, the organizer in Düsseldorf and the co-host country, Luxembourg.

For Messe Düsseldorf, EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027 present a very different organizational challenge from a traditional trade show: competitions in some 50 different disciplines take place simultaneously at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center, each operating almost like a small trade show of its own. That is a challenge, because every competition has its own requirements for space, infrastructure, safety and atmosphere. At the same time, the individual professional fields should come together to create one cohesive experience.

Excellence at Every Level
The visitor profile also differs from that of a traditional trade show. School groups and educational institutions are a particular focus and are expected to make up a large share of the audience. Wolfram Diener: “We stand for excellence and the reliable delivery of complex events. With our experience in international trade shows and events, we provide the foundation for 50 world-class competitions to run smoothly.”

The plan is for an event that will be remembered long after it ends. “EuroSkills 2027 in Düsseldorf is meant to be far more than a competition: the event is designed to inspire young people, bring careers to life and create opportunities for people to connect,” explains Dr. Nicole Mizera, Team Manager Partner and Guest Events at Messe Düsseldorf. Attractions at the Exhibition Center and throughout the city, hands-on activities, school projects and career guidance programs are intended to showcase the wide range of career paths available. Deutelmoser: “We want to get the whole city involved and create an atmosphere that reflects the Rhineland: warm and welcoming.”
