Strategic Moves: Wolfram N. Diener becomes new President & CEO at Messe Düsseldorf GmbH – Erhard Wienkamp joins Board of Managing Directors
Gathering on 4 December 2019 the Shareholders’ Meeting of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, presided over by the Chairman, Lord Mayor Thomas Geisel, appointed Wolfram N. Diener (55) as the new President & Chief Executive Officer and Erhard Wienkamp (61) as the new Managing Director Operative Trade Fair Business.

MEDICA and COMPAMED hold their own in a challenging and demanding market environment
The demand market for medical technology and medical products is becoming increasingly challenging and discriminating worldwide. Providers are adapting to this on a flexible basis and furnishing appropriate answers that include innovations for modern and cost-efficient medical care. Visitors were able to see this for themselves at MEDICA and COMPAMED, both of which took place in Düsseldorf.

Permanently Present for 40 Years: Messe Düsseldorf Moscow Celebrates Anniversary
Messe Düsseldorf celebrates the 40th anniversary of its Moscow subsidiary. By opening the official representation on 15 October 1979 it laid the foundation for its success story on the Russian market. 2002 saw the subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf Moscow being established, which today employs 49 members of staff and organises 14 trade fairs and participations in five Russian destinations.

Incident during Stand Construction for K
On Wednesday, 2 October 2019, at around 12.45 pm, an incident has occurred in Hall 4 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre during stand construction for the K trade fair. A heavy-duty crane tilted forward while unloading a machine. Nobody was injured.

Supervisory Board says farewell to Hans Werner Reinhard
On 27 September 2019, at Messe Düsseldorf’s Supervisory Board meeting, Hans Werner Reinhard will be officially relieved of his duties upon coordination with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, the Mayor of Düsseldorf, Thomas Geisel. He will resign from his positions within the Messe Düsseldorf Group on 30 September 2019.

Messe Düsseldorf puts Hall 1 in Operation
On Wednesday, 25 September, Messe Düsseldorf will put its new Hall 1 into operation. expopharm, Europe’s biggest trade fair for the pharmacy sector, will – as a contracted event – mark the beginning of continuous occupancy until drupa in June 2020. K, the world’s premier trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, will be the first proprietary event in the new hall from 16 to 23 October.

The Messe Düsseldorf Group is re-focusing their activities on the health market in Brazil and is off to a great start with the new MEDICAL FAIR BRASIL event, which will take place for the first time from 05 - 08 May 2020 in the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo, after which it will be held annually.

Hans Werner Reinhard, Operating Managing Director at Messe Düsseldorf, informed the Supervisory Board of Messe Düsseldorf on Friday, 28 June 2019, that he will be resigning from all his functions as of 31 December 2019.

New Location for the German House in Tokyo 2020
2020 will see Messe Düsseldorf realise the German House for the Olympic Games for the eleventh time and for the Paralympic Games for the sixth time now on behalf of Deutsche Sport Marketing (DSM). The meeting point for German athletes will be the “AQUA CiTY ODAIBA” shopping mall in the Odaiba neighbourhood.

50th Anniversary of Exhibition Centre in Düsseldorf
The Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre in the district of Stockum is celebrating its 50th anniversary: on 26 August 1969, the foundation stone was laid for the then largest and most expensive building project in the City of Düsseldorf to date.
