The trade audience from all areas of the healthcare industry will be able to experience the début of a special programme highlight live in November during the duration of the world's leading medical trade fair MEDICA in Düsseldorf (duration: 14 – 17 Nov. 2022). In the middle of the physiotherapy and orthopaedic technology theme segment in Hall 4, the MEDICA SPORTS HUB will then invite visitors to an action area on all days of the fair (14 – 17 Nov. 2022) for training and dialogue with Olympic athletes who are among the most successful in Germany's history: Heike Henkel (Olympic champion, world champion and world record holder in the high jump) and Lars Riedel (Olympic champion and multiple world champion in the discus).
Keynote speeches, talk sessions and also sporting exercises to take part in are planned every half hour between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on each day of the fair. The thematic spectrum ranges from mental health, nutrition, team success to professional endurance training or even aspects of workplace health promotion.
"With the MEDICA SPORTS HUB we show what distinguishes trade fairs with a personal contact format. Only those who come to Düsseldorf have the chance to experience and interview top stars from the world of sport face-to-face", says Christian Grosser, Director Health & Medical Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf, looking forward to extraordinary encounters during MEDICA 2022. Top-class speakers in conferences and forums
Not only sports celebrities have announced their attendance at MEDICA 2022, the programme of the forums integrated into the trade fair and the parallel conferences also feature the names of top-class speakers. For example, Federal Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach will take part in the kick-off event of the 45th German Hospital Day (DKT), the annual leading event for the top management of German hospitals (14 Nov./CCD Ost). Two days later, the debate on the increasing "outpatientisation" of previously primarily inpatient care services at the 45th DKT will also feature some extremely renowned speakers. Among others, Dr. Gerald Gaß, Chairman of the Board of the German Hospital Association, Dr. Andreas Gassen, Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and Prof. Dr. Christoph Straub, Chairman of the Board of BARMER Krankenkasse will be present.
Dr Gassen will also take part (17 Nov.) in the discussion on stabilising the finances of the statutory health insurance at the MEDICA ECON FORUM (in Hall 12). The starting day (14 Nov.) will also offer exciting sessions, such as the one with Dr. Gottfried Ludewig, Senior Vice President T-Systems Health Industry, on the so-called "Amazonisation" of the healthcare market by tech giants, including the question of the extent to which this development will not stop in Germany. On the third day of the forum organised by Techniker Krankenkasse (16 Nov.), the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister for Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Karl-Josef Laumann, is expected to attend. He will then address questions of future health policy in the Forum Dialogue.
Registrations are very international and clearly on the up side
The course of exhibitor registrations for MEDICA 2022 and the parallel COMPAMED 2022, the leading international trade fair for suppliers to the medical technology industry, indicates that participation will be significantly above the previous year's level. More than 4,400 companies will take part in MEDICA 2022, and around 700 in COMPAMED 2022 (MEDICA 2021: 3033, COMPAMED 2021: 490) – from a total of 70 nations.
The focus segments of the MEDICA trade fair are as follows: Laboratory Technology and Diagnostics, Medical Technology and Electromedicine (Imaging and Diagnostics/Medical Equipment and Devices), Commodities and Consumables, Physiotherapy and Orthopaedic Technology as well as IT Systems and IT Solutions.
