After Dr. Stephan Keller, Mayor of Düsseldorf, and Lei Limin, Chairman of the China Textile Commerce Association (CTCA), signed a cooperation agreement in Shanghai in April 2023, action is now being taken: CIOSH, the successful international trade fair for personal protective equipment in China, is expanding to Southeast Asia. After the premiere of CIOSH Thailand in 2024 further markets are to follow. With this development Messe Düsseldorf is not only opening up the attractive growth market of Southeast Asia to its customers, but is also increasing its leading position in the occupational safety and health sector. This strengthens the world's largest trade fair for the industry A+A in Düsseldorf – and thus the trade fair locations of Düsseldorf and NRW.
Düsseldorf, September 20, 2023. In his function as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Messe Düsseldorf, the Mayor of Düsseldorf, Dr. Stephan Keller, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lei Limin, Chairman of the China Textile Commerce Association (CTCA), during his visit to China in April 2023. The target: to establish new locally oriented events of the China International Occupational Safety & Health Goods Expo (CIOSH) in Southeast Asia. CIOSH Thailand is now the first step in implementing this cooperation agreement: Starting in 2024, the international personal protective equipment exhibition will be held annually in Bangkok. The first edition will take place at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) from 5 to 7 June 2024.
"My trip to China in the spring gave me a valuable insight into the successful cooperation between Messe Düsseldorf and the CTCA. The partnership proofs Messe Düsseldorf's high international reputation, which benefits the trade fair location of Düsseldorf. Messe Düsseldorf’s trade fair portfolio is growing with locally oriented events in Southeast Asia and will bring even more international guests to our global leading trade fairs in Düsseldorf." says Dr. Stephan Keller, Mayor of the state capital.

Two subsidiaries of Messe Düsseldorf are involved in the project: Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai as a partner of CIOSH and Messe Düsseldorf Asia in Singapore with its many years of comprehensive expertise in the Southeast Asian market. This makes Messe Düsseldorf CTCA's preferred partner for CIOSH's expansion. Lei Limin, Chairman of CTCA, is looking forward to the collaboration: "As Asia's leading occupational safety and health exhibition, CIOSH has demonstrated its international, professional and market-driven strength in terms of exhibition size, professional level, visitor numbers and exhibition services. Benefiting from the national "Belt and Road" cooperation strategy, CIOSH will actively "go global" and bring Chinese manufacturing to the world. The deeper cooperation between CTCA and Messe Düsseldorf will open a new chapter in the development of CIOSH".

Entering promising growth markets
Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing, most dynamic and most diverse regions of the global economy: between 2012 and 2021, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) recorded real economic growth averaging almost 4.1 per cent each year. The Southeast Asian personal protective equipment (PPE) market is forecast to reach $8.12 billion by 2030. Thailand is the second largest economy in ASEAN, part of the 21st century Maritime Silk Road and one of the countries with the highest demand for PPE. Wolfram N. Diener, Chairman and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, welcomes the course: "With the launch of CIOSH in the heart of Southeast Asia, we are opening up this region's great market potential for our customers and at the same time expanding Messe Düsseldorf's global thematic leadership in the field of occupational safety and health."
A+A and CIOSH combine economic power and expertise
As one of the world's most successful trade fair organisers, Messe Düsseldorf is a leader in the field of occupational safety and health, particularly through the world's largest trade fair for the sector, A+A, which has been held in Düsseldorf since 1954. Associated with A+A are the international trade fairs in Shanghai, Singapore and Istanbul, with CIOSH being China's largest professional exhibition for occupational safety and health. OS+H Asia has been organised by MDA in Singapore for 25 years, and TOS+H has been held in Istanbul since 2014.

CIOSH was founded by CTCA in 1966 and after 57 years of development has become the largest professional occupational safety and health exhibition in China. Since 2020, CTCA and Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai have enjoyed a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. The last edition of CIOSH, held in April 2023, set a new record with 1,522 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions showcasing their advanced protective equipment and technologies to 47,616 trade visitors. This success model now goes to new promising markets.
